My long time friend Richard S. Palais died on May 13, 2026. He designed 3D-XplorMath and invited me to develop it together.
We enjoyed the cooperation immensly. While the program no longer runs on modern machines we will keep the museum with its images and animations from
3D-XplorMath alive as a tribute to Dick. Hermann Karcher
The image at the top of this page was created by Luc Benard using 3D-XplorMath and Bryce. It was entered
into the 2006 NSF/Science Magazine Visualization Challenge where it won First Prize in the Illustration category
and was featured on the cover of the September 22, 2006 issue of Science.
